The Minimum Viable Product (MVP), is the next step after you have written down all the details of your idea. In order to create a Minimum Viable Product, your team needs to work in parallel to build something they can test with real users and improve over time. The idea behind the feasibility activity is to achieve a prototype which would further be elaborated in the subsequent phases.

Preliminary designing is done to address the gaps between your design concept and the actual design. Start with the System – Level Block diagram to specify all the electronic functions and how they interconnect with other functional components. For any hardware product, a microcontroller is the core component that is allied with other components such as displays, sensors, memory chips, etc. In the diagram, label the type and number of all serial ports required for the core component. Based on this information and in consultation with our team of experts in electronics design engineering, identify all of the allied components needed such as sensors, displays, connectors and microchips. This must be followed by thorough component research with the goal of arriving at Bill of Materials (BOM) by end of this phase.

DFMA and Prototyping are critical in the journey of making a unique product. DFMA helps to check the component availability and its cost, whereas prototype builds up the foundation of your product on which you can build further. DFMA simplifies the production complexity thereby reducing any overhead costing. This helps in optimizing overall production cost. If a product has been designed carefully with correct dimensions, then there would be no need for any major changes in the assembly steps during DFDA phase which subsequently reduces assembly time by minimizing number of assembly steps.

When building the product stage comes, we coach the manufacturer about building it in its exact form as the prototype. We may also identify and resolve any remaining issues in the design for the part being manufactured. This phase is known as Design Verification (DV) and is a last chance to make end time assembly fixtures, evaluate the manufactuiring setup and calibrate any software tools to be used at every interval. It is important to produce 50-100 units in this step and might see random product failures during design verification which needs to be addressed before moving to production.”
